I am leading a multi-disciplinary programme of research and policy advocacy on gender equity and diversity across medical and social sciences. This includes building an evidence base to accelerate women's advancement and leadership through systematic reviews; developing markers of achievement, metrics, and indicators for assessing and monitoring gender equity; conducting multi-centre cross-country comparisons of the gender leadership gap in academic health centres; examining the gender dimension of responsible research and innovation; and exploring ways of creating a more supportive and inclusive university culture.

My colleagues and I have demonstrated how gender equity could maximise scientific, societal and economic returns on investment in research; developed recommendations on how to include and strengthen analysis of gender equity in research impact assessment; and issued a global call for action.

My current health policy and management work focuses on the cross-cutting theme 'Partnerships for Health, Wealth and Innovation' of the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Centre using theoretical models from innovation studies (triple helix of university-industry-government relations), sociology of science (Mode 2 knowledge production), and management studies (value co-creation). My past work has informed the creation of an Academic Health Science Centre in Oxford, Health Innovation and Education Cluster in Thames Valley, and an Academic Health Science Network in south central England.

I am proud to be part of the Paradigm Project - a concerted, collaborative effort convened by AcademyHealth and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase the relevance, timeliness, quality, and impact of health services research.

Prior to my current role, I completed a DPhil in Social Policy at the University of Oxford looking at the politics of health care reform in Central and Eastern Europe; an MSc in Social Work and Social Administration at the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences specialising in social administration; a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, University of Malta, with a dissertation on public diplomacy; and a Higher Education Diploma (BA) in Economics at the Belarus State Economic University in my native Minsk. I also held visiting fellowships at the Centre for Policy Studies in Budapest and Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne.
