Sports and leisure facilities

The University Club is open to staff, postgraduate students and alumni and offers an exclusive space to relax, socialise and be active. The University Club gym is open 24 /7, every day from £135 per year.

Discounted rates at the University sports centre are available for University staff, students, spouse / partner, alumni and senior citizens.

Employee Assistance Programme

You can access free legal information and guidance on a range of personal, financial and legal matters from our Employee Assistance Programme, Health Assured. You can also access up to six free counselling sessions (either face to face or on online) and various online mental health support courses.

Discounted private medical care

You can access discounted private medical care for you and your family with Bupa. This could include hospital treatment, mental health treatment, diagnostic tests and scans, radio and chemotherapy, outpatient consultations, complementary medicine and 24 / 7 access by phone to nurses and GPs (please note excesses and restrictions apply). Quotations can be obtained quickly by filling out the form via the EduHealth website.

You can also access the Health4All direct debit health cash plan whereby you pay a small monthly premium and you can claim cashback on dental, optical and therapy treatments including osteopathy, physiotherapy and chiropody. There are no medicals required and you can cover others in your household including children until their 18th birthday.

Eye Tests for Visual Display Unit (VDU) users

If you are identified through your Display Screen Assessment (DSE) as a 'user' you are entitled to request an eye test. Your admin team will arrange your test with one of the University's nominated opticians and reimburse the cost of the test. Where a new or altered prescription for spectacles is required for DSE use, the department will contribute £75 towards the cost. For more information on this visit the University guidance pages however please contact your local admin team to get this arranged through the department.
