Our Research Staff Representatives
Andrew Armitage
I am a senior postdoc in the MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, where I've worked with Professor Hal Drakesmith since 2008. I've been a part of RDM's Investigative Medicine Division since its inauguration.
The MSD Research Staff Forum seeks to improve the working environment and culture for researchers across MSD, and acts as a liaison point between researchers in the departments and higher University committees that have the ability to effect change.
Having had a long-term interest in academic career trajectories, I am keen to promote approaches to broader reward and recognition of researchers who are not PIs but make critical contributions to the overall research endeavour.
Please do get in touch if there are issues you would like to raise with the MSD Research Staff Forum.

I joined RDM as a postdoc in Robin Choudhury's group in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in 2021, working on cardiac regeneration in neonatal mice.
Since 2022, I have been a member of the RDM Researcher Association. This group organises the annual RDM Careers Day, and social events for the RDM community.
As a Research Staff Representative, I am looking forward to discussing and addressing the concerns researchers have regarding career and professional development, research funding, access to facilities, job contracts, and immigration issues.
Please get in touch with me if you are a researcher in the RDM and would like to share something that I could address.
