In April this year RDM submitted an application for a Silver Athena SWAN award and we can now announce that our application has been successful. The award was made in recognition of both the work we have done, and of our future plans.

Our application provided an evidence based evaluation of where we have made progress, and contains a substantial amount of staff, student and recruitment data, and includes information from earlier staff and student surveys. The application demonstrates the impact of the work to improve career development and create a more supportive and open workplace culture. You can read the Application and Action Plan on our website.

Silver awards are difficult to achieve; the current success rate across the UK is 44%, so we offer our sincere thanks to all in the Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team, all the Departmental Administrators and HR Teams and in particular, Lynn Clee (the main picture shows the silver swan that occupies pride of place on her office door), Charlotte Smith and Felicity Green.

The ongoing success is truly reliant on everybody within RDM and we welcome your comments and ideas: please contact Charlotte Smith.
