Technical Manager
I joined the Metabolic Research Group in July 2016 taking the role as Technical Manager. I am responsible for the day to day running of the laboratory as well as providing support and guidance for research staff and students. One of my roles is to carry out routine biochemical analysis of samples belonging to the Oxford BioBank and I am involved in methods development for new technologies and techniques.
I sit on committees for OCDEM Safety, Athena Swan and I am a Workplace Challenge Champion, encouraging people to be active during work time in an effort to promote health and wellbeing.
I have worked in OCDEM since 2005, as a technician and in 2011 as a research assistant. During that time both roles required using a wide variety of molecular biological techniques enabling me contribute to many research projects.
I very much enjoy working in the laboratory and I am on hand to offer practical assistance to whoever in the group may need it.
