My current research is focused on using large-scale genetic data such as T2D-GENES /GoT2D/DIAGRAM Consortium, UK Biobank and China Kadoorie Biobank obtained from next-generation sequencing and GWAS approaches to 1) identify and characterise genetic variants influencing predisposition to type 2 diabetes and its related traits; 2) investigation the causal relationship between an exposure or intermediate phenotype and type 2 diabetes/cardiovascular diseases using Mendelian randomisation approaches; 3) identify genetic factors contributing to weight loss after bariatric surgery procedures. I received my Ph.D degree at the Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2014, I joined Professor Mark McCarthy's group as postdoc researcher. I'm now also collaborating with Prof Rachel Batterham at UCLH and Professor Zhengming Chen at CTSU, Oxford University.
