Facility Manager Michalina Mazurczyk, based in the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, has been appointed as Technician Champion for the second year.

Michalina Mazurczyk

The University of Oxford is a signatory to the Technician Commitment, and is raising the visibility of technicians to ensure they receive recognition for the valuable work they do and better support with career development and progression.

Technical staff from across the University are appointed to act as Technician Champions. They will work on a range of projects which will help to raise the profile and/or support the career development of technicians at the University.

Michalina will be working on a project which will promote short-term job shadowing and secondments via a pilot scheme across the Medical Sciences Division. It is hoped the scheme will be rolled out more broadly and offered to the wider technician community within the University next year.

About the appointment, Michalina said: 'I am delighted to be representing technicians as Technician Champion for the second year. I am excited to work with MSD office on this learning and development opportunity. Cross-training was a top priority for technicians in the University of Oxford according to technician survey run as part of Technician Commitment Plan. I feel that I will be working on an action that will bring a real value for technicians' community at Oxford.'
