As a research assistant to the Neubauer/Lygate group I support the research into myocardial energetics in ischaemia and heart failure. I use HPLC to analyse levels of creatine, phosphocreatine and TAN pool components in heart tissue of various transgenic mice to help understand the effects of modulating different components in the creatine kinase system. I also maintain cell lines for any experiments run within the group and carry out various other biochemical assays to help characterise the creatine kinase system.
