I work with my PI Dr Benoit Hastoy on his RD Lawrence Fellowship, to investigate the impact of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) risk variants on pancreatic beta-cell secretory capacity.

I am involved in investigating the secretory properties of beta cells, the regulatory mechanism of vesicle organisation and to identify the molecular mechanisms supported by the association of certain genes with T2D-risk.

We also work in collaboration with Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Precision Medicine (CAIPM), where Dr Benoit Hastoy is the Scientific lead. Utilising my expertise to validate novel T2D targets and to test small compounds that can rescue beta cell function generated by our CAIPM collaborators. For this we use extensively the human beta cell line EndoC-βH1, and human primary islets when available.
