Call for Projects

The call for project proposals is now open for the 2025 round of recruitment to the Novo Nordisk - Oxford Fellowship Programme.

Principal Investigators from the University of Oxford are invited to submit project proposals to be considered by the Joint Steering Committee. Research projects selected by the committee will be available for fellowship applicants to select in Spring 2025; we will be advertising four Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to commence in Autumn 2025.

Deadline: Monday 27 January 2025 (12 noon GMT), though please note an additional earlier deadline of Monday 6 January 2025 if you would like to enquire about a potential collaborative project with Novo Nordisk (please see Call for Projects PDF for further information).

Areas of interest

We are interested in a wide range of projects from basic biological research through to clinical application within the fields of:

  1. Diabetes and obesity
  2. Cardiovascular and rare blood diseases
  3. Other cardiometabolic diseases (such as liver and renal)

We encourage proposals:

  1. with human relevance and using human systems, due to their translational potential
  2. in the areas of regenerative medicine, cell and gene therapy, tissue repair and mosaicism
  3. that use human genetics, systems biology, machine learning and big data analytics to increase mechanistic understanding in the above fields, including identifying novel gene networks/modules and/or in silico models of disease.

ELIGIBILITY

Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Medical Sciences Division (MSD) or the Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences Division (MPLS), whose research aligns with one or more of the areas of interest outlined above, are eligible to submit up to two research projects for consideration.

PIs must have an employment contract that extends at least until September 2028 to cover the duration of the fellowship. Alternatively, they may include a co-PI on the project who holds a contract extending through that period.

All applications to the Novo Nordisk - Oxford Fellowship Programme: Call for Projects must be submitted by PIs online via the Internal Research Award Management System (IRAMS).

The deadline to submit project proposals is Monday 27 January 2025 (12 noon GMT). Please note that proposals received after this time will, unfortunately, not be considered.
